Gemstone Spotlight: Mociun By Brecken Branstrator National Jeweler
It was a happy accident. Trying to figure out what to do with a parcel of gemstones led Caitlin Mociun to create her signature, one-of-a-kind gemstone cluster pieces that often use antique diamonds and rare stones, such as bicolor sapphires, with minimal metalwork to let them shine.
“It’s all about the simplicity of composition and form for me,” Mociun said.

Fair Trade Jeweler Greg Valerio Honored by Queen Elizabeth By Logan Sachon
He is recognized for his contributions to fair trade in the U.K., East Africa, and Colombia
Greg Valerio has been named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), an honor bestowed by the Queen of England.
He is recognized “for services to the U.K. and fair trade gold sectors in Colombia and East Africa,” according to the official release.
Valerio founded Cred Jewelry, the first company n the U.K. and Europe to sell fair trade gold and platinum jewelry. He sold the business in 2010 to focus on campaigning for fair trade and transparency in the jewelry industry. Read more…

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A wholesale jeweler in the valley for the holidays has been hit by thieves. Now he’s offering a reward in hopes whoever took off with the merchandise returns it. The Fresno Police Department is looking into leads as they investigate the break-in.
A rude awakening for a Bakersfield man who discovered his minivan had been broken into during his stay at a Northwest Fresno hotel. Thieves busted into the vehicle, taking, in all, $400,000 worth of Native American jewelry.
The man, who didn’t want to be identified for the interview, said all but one duffel bag was left in the back of the van. He works as a wholesale jeweler with clients throughout the country and had intended on selling the items inside. “After, the Christmas season is our best season. Pretty much was our season to sell,” explained Abdelhamid Dalia, victim’s son. Read more…

Elvis Presley’s Jewels, Watches On Auction At Graceland And Online By Anthony Demarco
Elvis Presley had his own style and it included the jewelry and watches he wore and gave as gifts. He preferred
yellow gold, diamonds, sapphires and antique coin rings. Several pieces had personal meaning to Presley and those closest to him.
At least seven of his jewels and watches are among 126 authenticated pieces of memorabilia up for auction January 7 at Graceland, Presley’s former Memphis, Tenn., estate that is now a museum dedicated to the life of one of America’s most famous singers and actors.
